Pinch is a recipe, meal-planning, shopping-list, and hands-free cooking app. This policy explains what information Pinch processes and why.

Information you provide

Pinch may process recipes, ingredients, cooking instructions, meal plans, shopping-list items, dietary preferences, recipe source links, and recipe photos that you choose to add. If you create an account, Pinch receives an account identifier and, depending on the sign-in method and information you choose to share, your name and email address.

On-device and cloud data

Recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, preferences, and cooking history are stored on your device. If you sign in and enable cloud features, synced information is associated with your account so it can be available across your devices.

AI features

Pinch sends information to an AI service only when you choose an AI-powered feature, such as importing, scanning, improving, reviewing, or illustrating a recipe. The recipe text, source link, or photos required for that request are sent through Pinch's Supabase backend to Google Gemini. You can disable AI processing at any time in Pinch Settings and enter or edit recipes manually.

Voice cooking and location

Hands-free commands use Apple's speech-recognition services while the cooking screen is actively listening. Pinch does not send microphone audio to its own backend. If you enable weather-aware planning, Pinch uses an approximate location or selected city to request a forecast. Pinch does not store location history or use location for advertising.

Security, tracking, and advertising

Pinch uses authenticated connections and per-user database access policies. Generated recipe images stored in the cloud are private and accessed using temporary signed links. Pinch does not sell personal information, use personal information for third-party advertising, or track users across other companies' apps or websites.

Retention and deletion

AI input is processed to complete the requested feature. Generated recipe images may remain in private cloud storage while your account exists. Local app data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app. You can permanently delete your cloud account from Pinch Settings.

Your choices

You can manage camera, photo, location, microphone, speech-recognition, and notification permissions in iOS Settings. You can turn off weather-aware planning, use manual recipe entry, sign out, or delete your account from Pinch Settings.
